2022-23 Team Tryouts
Mintonette Sports offers club teams for players grades 3-12. Check out the information below to learn more about our club teams and how to join.
Playing on a club team is similar to playing on a school team! Mintonette Sports is looking to train athletes who are hard-working, committed, and focused! Mintonette thrives on making the sport fun as athletes are introduced to the game of volleyball while pushing them to be the best of the best by the time they graduate high school.
To join a club team, follow the steps below:
- Determine which age group your daughter qualifies for
- Attend our Open House
- Get to know Mintonette on the court
- Learn about the types of teams we offer
- Register for and attend tryouts
1. Determine age group
Age definitions are set by the USAV and the OVR (our governing bodies). Some athletes may qualify for two different age groups, depending on their DOB and grade.
Example: A player was born on July 1, 2008, but is in the 7th grade. She qualifies to play on the 14's National, American and Regional division teams (because of her DOB), as well as the 13's Regional division teams (because of her grade).

2. Attend Open House
Our Open House is a GREAT way to get to know our staff and coaches before committing to play on a team. Specifics for each of our teams will be announced at Open House and posted on our website soon after.
Returning players and families will also be in attendance. We encourage you to talk to them about their Mintonette experience as well.
Date: Sunday, October 2, 1-4pm
Missed Open House? No problem! Check out our team information flyers to review details for each of our 2022-23 teams.
3. Get to know Mintonette on the court
Before trying out for a club team, we suggest attending a camp or clinic to make sure your daughter enjoys playing with Mintonette! Any of our training sessions will give you a very good idea of what practices will be like throughout the season. Mintonette is currently offering the following:
- Junior Mints & Future Mints (Grades 4-6)
- Pre-Tryout Clinics (Grades 4-12)
Click here to register for these clinics.
4. Types of club teams
Mintonette Sports offers three divisions/levels of teams:
- National
- American
- Regional (Junior Mints)
"National" division teams require the most commitment. These teams are designed for athletes who want to play volleyball at the highest level. Our top National teams will compete in the Open & National divisions in tournaments where the competition is most rigorous. These teams will play in tournaments that require out-of-state travel, some of which require flights.
"American" division teams are a lower level of commitment compared to National teams. These teams are great for athletes looking to play competitively. This division is to showcase regionally strong teams that may travel out of state.
"Regional" division teams require the least commitment. They are a great fit for athletes who are newer to the sport or prefer less travel.
Note: During the tryout registration process you can select which team division(s) you are interested in. If you only want to play on a regional division team, you can specify that and your daughter will only be placed on a regional team at tryouts.
